HistoryNamed by U.S. Bureau of Fisheries (USBF) in 1901 for Commander Jefferson F. Moser, 1848=1934, U.S. Navy (USN), commander of the U.S. Bureau of Fisheries (USBF) steamer Albatross from 1897 to 1901. Moser made a reconnaissance of the Alitak Bay area in 1900 and named many features in the coastal area of Alaska.
