HistoryNative name published by the early Russians as "Guba Kamyshatskaya," meaning "Kamyshatskaya Bay" (Sarichev, 1826, map 3). The name "Bourdieus Bay" appears on Captain George Vancouver's map, but since the name is not mentioned in the text, it may have been given in 1787 by Captain George Dixon (Wagner, 1937, p. 434).
