Historyname derived from village of Kaguyak; published in 1943 by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS). (1835, p. 275), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN), and was reported as "Z(aliv) Svikhshak" or "Svikhshak Bay," by Captain Tebenkov in 1849. "Alsentia" was given to the bay in 1888 by U.S. Bureau of Fisheries (USBF).
