History of Gerstle Bay

Named in 1888 by U.S. Bureau of Fisheries (USBF) for Lewis Gerstle, who in 1868 was one of the founders of the Alaska Commercial Company. He held the office of president for a term before his death in 1902. This feature cannot be identified on current maps.
