Heads in the Kenai Mountains, trends S to the head of Northwestern Fior, 8 km (5 mi) E of McCarty Glacier, 55 mi. NE of Homer, Chugach Mts.

Named about 1909 by U.S.Grant (U.S. Geological Survey), for Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill (in Books and others, 1910, pl. 3).
