Jared "Sunshine" Mixon

Jared "Sunshine" Mixon is originally from Fairbanks, but finished high school in Oklahoma. Ten years and 5 universities later, he graduated from OK State with a degree in physics with a leisure studies minor (it's a real thing). He moved back to Alaska to work with the Upward Bound Program at UAF. Jared began teaching mathematics in Chefornak in 2010 with his wife. He now has two children and teaches at the middle school in Valdez. Jared has been a guide in Alaska for over 20 years and enjoys rafting, hiking across glaciers and building robots.
