Thimbleberry in Detail.

A branching shrub like other rubus species (salmon berry, raspberry) however thimbleberries stalks are not thorny. They range from a foot and a half to six feet tall. Leaves grow from 1-5 inches in length. Their flowers are made up of five white flowers that produce the thimbleberry.

Thimbleberries are fairly large berries, somewhat velvet texture and red coloring. They are edible and fairly sweet yet very seedy.

Thimbleberries prefer sun and are found along forest and thickets near coastal areas mostly confined to southeast Alaska.
