About Woodland Snow Pool Mosquito

Aedes communis is the most common and widely distributed species of mosquito in Alaska. It is predominately a forest species and can be found in a wide variety of temporary, shallow pools in its larval phase. At Anchorage, peak emergence begins at the end of May and continues through June. Aedes communis prefers hosts other than man but by sheer number alone is considered a significant pest and therefore worthy of surveillance.
