Summer Myomick and her one-year-old son were mauled to death by a polar bear after leaving the local school. They didn't do anything wrong that could have prevented this scenario, it was determined that the polar bear was in poor health. The only lesson from this is polar bears can pose a real threat. Be cautious in polar bear country, they are a protected species and can only be killed in defense of human life. Polar bear attacks are rare, but possible. ADN Article.
