April 25, 2022 - Skiing Fatality at Pencil Glacier
Mike was scouting a run for guests when he unintentionally triggered an avalanche. He was carried around 1,500 feet, including falling over a steep cliff. He deployed his avalanche airbag and was not buried but was killed by force trauma. He was equipped with appropriate avalanche mitigation equipment, and definitely had the right skills for the setting. It was a tragic instance of the wrong place at the wrong time. ADN Article
