April 18, 2009 - Snowmachining Fatality at Nick's Happy Valley
Nick's Happy Valley, Thompson Pass,
Jordan was caught in an avalanche, being buried under 10ft of snow. The incident happened during the annual hill climb festival, though not part of the event, many people were around to witness the event. Jordan was not wearing a beacon and was found via probes fairly quickly. By the time he was recovered he was deceased. It's not known if cause of death was suffocation or trauma. It's reported either were likely. We are under the impression Jordan was riding on the north(left) side of the ravine, not the center-south(right) area normally travelled when ascending Nicks.
