April 16, 1991 - Plane Piloting Fatality at Mount Jarvis

Mount Jarvis,

On April 16, 1991, Ken Bunch of Gulkana Air Service, landed a Cessna 185 to pick up clients Hiroshi Oda and Ichiro Matoda. Upon taxiing, a wheel ski dropped into a crevasse and Ken suffered a heart attack while attempting to dig the plane free. Hiroshi and Ichiro attempted to revive him but were unable. The ordeal turned into a search and rescue effort that lasted a few days.
