February 13, 1984 - Mountaineering Fatality at Denali

Denali,

Naomi Uemura, was a Japanese adventurer who was known particularly for his solo exploits. He summited Denali solo and disappeared along his descent. Though searches found most of his gear and diary while looking for him, he was never found. Uemura himself has yet to be found. Attempting Denali solo greatly increases your risk on an already difficult climb, Uemura also increased the difficulty while climbing in the winter season.
