Flows northwest 22 miles to Kukpowruk River, 37 miles southeast of Point Lay, Arctic Slope.

Named by Chapman and Sable (1960, p. 53), U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in 1949, "because of an eskimo-built rock deadfall trap found near the mouth of this stream."
