A translation of the original Athabaskan Indian name, obtained in 1953 by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS); originally named "Mount Hubbard" in 1910 by the Browne-Parker Expedition for Thomas H. Hubbard, then president of the Peary Arctic Club.
