About

Common Murre (Uria aalge)is a long, slender black and white sea bird, with a medium pointed bill. They closely resemble their cousin the Thick-billed Murre, with most differences being in the white facial stripe and thinner bill. Juvenile's and molting birds of the two are more difficult to distinguish.

They are found in most waters off the coast of Alaska except along its northern shore and prefer nesting along rocky shoreline.

In the winter off 2015-2016 many common murre's began randomly dying and being found unusually far inland for the species.
