History

Named, "Punta de los Remedios," meaning "point of the remedies," given in 1775-79 by Don Juan de la Bodega y Quadra and Francisco Antonio Maurelle. "Bodega (y Quadra) carried a bronze image of Nuestra Senora de los Remedios on this voyage and perhaps the name was given in her honor, or perhaps after h is ship the Favorita, of which the real name was Nuestra Senora de los Remedios" (Wagner, 1937, p. 405).
