May 5, 2024 - Mountaineering Fatality at Mooses Tooth
Eli Michel,34, of Columbia City, IN, and Nafiun Awal, 32 ,of Seattle, WA, set out at 5 AM Friday, May 5 for a climb of the West Ridge, a steep technical route on the Moose’s Tooth. After not checking in a search effort was made for them. Clues indicate they were caught in an avalanche as their gear was found in the fall line of a recent avalanche but the men were not found before the search was called off a week later.
