Indian name reported as "Teecan" in 1908 by International Boundary Commission (IBC) surveyors; published in 1914 on International Boundary Commission (IBC) Sheet 15 (1918 Atlas). The spelling was changed to "Tikan" in 1914 by the Canadian Geographic Board.
