About

Tozitna River or "Tozi" heads in Ray Mountains, flows west and south between the Ray, and Rampart Mountains, to Yukon River, 10 miles west-southwest of Tanana.

History

Tanana native name, "Tozi River," reported by personnel of the Western Union Telegraph Expedition of 1867 as "Towshecargut." In 1869 Raymond (1871, p. 23), U.S. Revenue-Cutter Service (USRCS), wrote it "Tosekargut," and Dall (1870, p. 282) spelled it "Tosikakat," or "mouth of the Tozi."

Tanana natives had a village called Tozikakat, north bank of the Yukon at the mouth of Tozi River.
