About

Heading on the NW slopes of the Poovoot Range and flowing N to Aghnaghak Lagoon, 17 mi. S of Gambell, in the W part of Saint Lawrence Island. 10 miles long.

History

Eskimo name, more correctly transliterated as Akhnak, in the dual form, meaning two women; recommended to U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in 1949 by the Gambell village council.
