Heads on the south side of Slate Peak and flows south and west 24 km (15 mi) to the Gulf of Alaska at Situk, 16 km (10 mi) southeast of Yakutat; Malaspina Coastal Plain.

History

Tlingit Indian name published as "R(eka) Aantlen," or "Aantlen River," by Captain Tebenkov (1852, map 7), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN). (1901, pl. 43), U.S. Navy (USN), spelled the name "Ahrn-Klin," later to be combined to its present form. shown on present-day maps as a tributary, although it appears as if both names were derived from the same Indian name.
