In the Chugach Mountains, 7.5 mi. SW of Upper Lake George and 33 mi ESE of Anchorage.

History
Descriptive name given in 1963 by members of the Mountaineering Club of Alaska pertaining to the usual weather conditions experienced by climbers in the area. A whiteout is an opaque diffusion of sky and snow. The peak is surrounded and partly covered with glacial ice.
