12 mi W of Mount Katmai. Extends NW of Valley of Ten Thousand Smokes, on Alaska Peninsula, in Katmai National Monument, 10 mi. W of Mount Katmai, Aleutian Range. 10 miles long.

History
Descriptive name given in 1919 of the National Geographic Society by R. F. Griggs as Buttress Mountain and mapped as Buttress Range.
