Local name reported in 1903 as "Ugashik Lakes" for both Upper and Lower Ugashik Lakes by G. C. Martin (1905, pl. 6), U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). The name "Lower Ugashik Lake" is applied separately on 1956 U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) map.
