1 mi. NE of NE tip of Hawkins I. and 5 mi. N of Cordova, Chugach Mts.

Named in 1897 by Lieutenant Commander J. F. Moser, 1SN, while collecting hydrographic data and making harbor sketches along the coast of Alaska; probably so named because it is the northernmost island of a chain of islands.
