Aglais milberti, also known as Milbert's Tortoiseshell or Milbert's Lady, is a species of butterfly belonging to the Nymphalidae family.

This butterfly is found in North America, from Alaska and across Canada to the northern United States. Its wingspan ranges from about 1.75 to 2.5 inches (4.5 to 6.5 cm) and it has distinctive orange and black markings on its wings.

Milbert's tortoiseshell typically flies from June to August and feeds on the nectar of various flowers including fireweed and members of the Asteraceae family. It lays eggs on the leaves of host plants such as willow and birch, and the larvae feed on these plants as they develop into adult butterflies.

Habitat & Range

Milbert's tortoiseshell is known to occur in the southern and central parts of the Alaska. In Alaska, this butterfly is known to inhabit boreal forests and forested wetlands, and it may also occur in alpine and subalpine areas.
