About

It is very unlikely you will find one in Alaska but not impossible, if they make it to Alaska it is usually when carried over from Asia in a storm.

Wrynecks resemble a woodpecker physic with a ptarmigan plumage. Unlike most woodpeckers you will find in Alaska these woodpeckers usually are found on braches as opposed to tree trunks.

Their name wryneck comes from being able to turn their heads nearly 180 degrees.
