History

In 1902 Lieutenant G. S. Gibbs, USA called this stream Thompson Creek, but in 1904 L. M. Prindle, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), reported that the miners called it Shaw Creek. Its Indian name was "Debetendig" according to J. T. Geoghegan in 1904.
