HistoryNamed by W. H. Dall, U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS); published in 1883 Coast Pilot (p. 130). "This point was mistakenly called Point Pybus on the Russian Hydrographic Department, U. S. Hydrographic, and British Admiralty Charts, but it is not the Point Pybus originally named by Vancouver in 1794, which is six miles to the southwest; therefore the name False Point Pybus."
