Name shown as "Point Swedania" on a U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) chart published in 1882; "M(ys) Svidaniya" is shown on a Russian Hydrographic Dept. chart published in 1847, possibly derived from the Russian expression "do svidaniy" meaning "till we meet again."
