History

Named "Christians Sound" in 1789 by the English fur trader, Captain James Colnett of the Argonaut; "no doubt in honor of Sir Hugh Christians, Rear Admiral and commander in chief of the West Indies in 1795" (Wagner, 1937, p. 380).
