Listed by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) in the 1916 Coast Pilit (p. 160) as "Warner or Prospect Bay". Published as "Prospect Bay" by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) (1909, p. 152); so named because of a nearby copper prospect.
